Leipzig Events: Springing to action

So you’ve been patient like the mountain goat is famed to be. Waiting, waiting for the time to come… in your case, to take off your heavy jacket and relax with the sun splashed across your face out at a streetside cafe, or by the river at the park, or in the garden.

Unfortunately, we cannot trust this willful early spring weather to deliver our long-awaited healthy dose of warm and shine. But even if spring still doesn’t come, we can spring ourselves, and dance the lingering chill away…

maeshelle’s tips:

Hey guys, don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour on Sunday and that shops will be closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday and Monday. So no food shopping on those days and stupidly long, “the world is going to end,” lines Thur and Sat. I think the main station might be open Easter Sunday 1-6 p.m., but that seems strange.

Easter is quite different here from what I remember. I always went to my grandmother’s or friends’. When I had a German boyfriend, the whole family would actually go out together for Easter lunch. No idea if that’s the norm or was just his family, but I think it means you can go out for a meal if you don’t feel like cooking or if your usual Easter peeps are across a pond. Meanwhile, that’s not the most important thing this weekend. The most important thing is celebrating spring and that means PARTYING! My plan is to go to Distillery with my one of my chosen family members that I haven’t seen since Christmas! You actually don’t have to go anywhere else. Go in on the 26th and leave on the 28th. Two floors of non-stop top notch DJs, fun and sexy bar staff and if you get tired inside, there’s always the wonderful outside area with lots of seating and the hot dog guy also has yummy cheese for us veggies. And Distillery was the first techno club in Leipzig, so it’s a nice traditional place to go.
