With so many events going on to help refugees, we asked Jamie Flowers to compile a list. Here’s what he found:

7-26 September Blood Donations to benefit local Refugee Children’s Education Program

A double donation opportunity! To benefit the FlüchtlingsratLeipzig e. V. educational assistance and support services, the University Hospital is running the “Blut spenden – Bildung schenken” (Donate Blood, Give Education) from 7. to 26. September 2015. The nominal fee that you would ordinarily receive can be donated directly to the fund.  The opening hours are: Monday and Friday from 7:00 to 19:00,  Tuesday through Thursday 8:00 to 20:00

The Flüchtlingsrat educational support services assist children to get back up to speed with their school studies.  Often, refugee children have missed significant amounts of their education, and also benefit from support in adjusting to a new language and educational system.

A match for equality is a non-profit project organised by a group of students in collaboration with Wisamar Bildungsgesellschaft and Erasmus Plus+.  Join us for a football tournament for refugees in Leipzig, make everyone feel at home and have fun!

25 September ►Help move the donation centre move from Berliner Straße 69 to Rathenaustraße 23A

26 September The Bach Choir of Nikolai Church – Refugee Benefit Concert

The Nikolai Church Bach Choir will be joined by the Choir of Franziscan Church of Salzburg, the Amadeus Choir of Zurich and several soloists, and will be accompanied by the church organ.   Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung will be a keynote speaker.

All proceeds go to the  Diakonischen Flüchtlingshilfe Leipzig.  Tickets are 10€, 7€ for those eligible for reduced entry.  Tickets can be bought ahead of time at the bookstore of the Nikolaikirche, in the LVZ Media Store (Höfe am Brühl), in the LVZ-Geschäftsstelle (Peterssteinweg) as well as the Musikalienhandlung Oelsner
