Carve out a spot in your busy calendars for Friday, June 26, 3-4 p.m. That’s when three of our LeipGlo columnists – Stewart Tunnicliff (#MoviesAndTV), Maeshelle West-Davies (#ArtsAndCulture), and Christijan Robert Broerse (#Literature) – will give a literature show at Leipzig’s first KUK! Festival. With their different backgrounds and styles (Stew a performance poet, Maeshelle a performance artist, Christijan a word-weaving wizard), you’re definitely in for a treat and surprises. As for the festival as a whole, the name stands for “Kunst und Kulturfestival,” and it will feature a diverse array of attractions, besides the aforementioned Leipzig Writers (aka Inky Ensemble): improv theater, the folk band Soulframe, a science slam, the HTWK university orchestra, and a party at the end (from 9:30 pm on). It’s being organized by HTWK itself, and taking place at the university complex on Gustav Freytag Straße, off Karl Liebknecht Straße near Connewitz. Visit the event’s Facebook page for a quick rundown on acts and times.
