Holiday commercials: naughty and nice

Yes, advertisers use the holiday season to reinforce traditional family stereotypes. They use holiday ads to foster mass consumerism. But they still produce some damn good holiday commercials, or at least ones that make you laugh, for whatever reason. I'm not a shopper, but felt like sharing them with you. Happy 2018! It’s a nice way to wait out a snow storm (could we have a “white Christmas”, after all?) or a full belly. Fun and beautiful to watch, with big stars and impressive cinematography. Be prepared for kilos of makeup and unexplained plot additions, though.

From LE to LA: the kindness of strangers

What surprised me was what I got from the people. I had forgotten how good it feels to smile and be smiled back at. I know some say Americans are superficially nice, but I miss that friendliness. Every day I went to the boardwalk of Venice Beach in LA, I got hugs for no reason at all.
