#MoviesOmU: Movies in English and other original foreign languages in Leipzig, October 28-November 4

//

Here’s our regular listing of films being shown in English and other original foreign languages, and sometimes German with foreign partnerships, at Leipzig cinemas for this movie week. Although not dubbed, the movies often come with German or even English subtitles, so you might still be able to access the film if you don’t know the language being spoken.

We enter the month of November with DOK Fest at full steam (read our guide here), but there is still a bit of diversity in non-DOK films on tap. I’m sure you can find something that interests you!

What the labels mean: OmU – Original with German subtitles; OmeU – Original with English subtitles; OF – Original film; OV – Original version; Im Original – In the original and often 3D.

Cinémathèque in der naTo:

“A remarkable travelogue from a trip around the Black Sea: along its shores, lined by the boundaries of six states, and through bizarre seaside resorts. More than the tourist industry or political problems, the film focuses on solitary statues, decaying architectural monuments, and the personal stories of the local people. From each stop on their journey, the filmmakers send a series of stylized video postcards with the playfulness of staged scenes, set against the backdrop of the sea. In this cinematic answer to Ovid’s Black Sea lamentations, that ancient text receives new qualities that tell us about a place that is accursedly beautiful but also beautifully cursed.”  MORE FROM IMDB
