Friday marks the start of the Euro Cup. Yeah a month of football is on tap. I know some of you will be glued to the TV during the games, but for those of you who are not into it, there’s still a way! Here are some fun and groovy alternatives to get your week(end) going.
► Noches Latinas in BeyerHaus
Spanish course and salsa classes are waiting for you like every Thursday.
► Bachfest Leipzig 2016
Where: Alte Damenhandschuhfabrik
The bbq starts at 16:00 outside and from 22:00 the party starts with a long list of DJs: ◎ DJ Buti ◎ RZR ◎ Carool ◎ Zebsta ◎ Drunkenstein ◎ HMZ. Free entrance, children are welcome (perhaps not to the party afterwards).
The theme of the evening is erotic literature. Hot hot hot. Books that fit the theme will be presented and read during the evening. The drink of the evening is whisky and soda.
With more than a decade dedicated to singing jazz and boleros, his sincere sensibility and a voice of a warmth and dexterity able to reach deep withing hearts, Ed has developed a very unique style that we could define as “jazzy-Latin-pop.” The singer-songwriter sings with an extra touch of that world-famous Latin American passion. Voice and guitar, a music made to sit back, relax and take a trip back into memories and feelings. A 5 euro donation is welcome.
Blaswerk Leipzig is giving an open air concert for the second consecutive year.
► Open air African evening
Where: Kultur Lounge
(Dresdner Str. 25, the back house)
Music, food, clothes market, crafts market, children’s activities, hair salon, live band and an art exhibition. A celebration to promote culture and tolerance. Don’t miss it (I wouldn’t miss the hair salon).
Where: Leipzig Lions
If you are more of an American football person, don’t miss the Leipzig Lions playing. Entrance 6 euros.
► Inky Ensemble feels homeLE
Come to this literature concert with Stew Tun, Edu Lopez and Tom Kühnel, and find out the guys’ stories, and what has pulled them, and still pulls them to where they are heading. Come ride this roller coaster of emotions and collaboration with them.
Entry at 8 p.m. – starts 8:30 p.m. 7€ at the door – and a surprise gift if you catch the Early Bird, 5€ (before 10/06).
This is really the coolest flashmob EVER! At 15:00 you arrive at Augustusplatz, you put out a soap bubble device of your choice, and for 5 min you go at it. Be a child again. When the five minutes are gone, you are as well. It will happen only if the weather is good.
► The Market – Craft Beer Edition – at Täubchenthal
Streetfood, design and vintage, art, music, stuff to do for kids, they have it all in trendy Plagwitz. Last time I was there, I completely adored the food and all the nice products they sold at the market. More info (in German)
More than 140 stands with organic products, food, clothes, cosmetics etc. Lots of activities. More info.
And last but not least, of course…
► Germany vs Ukraine, Euro Cup
Where: Well, it’s in France but you can always watch it on TV or at one of the many public viewings in the city.
