I’m super hyped about this Saturday. Karl Liebknecht Straße, known to many as KarLi – the main street in the Südvorstadt district where I live and one of Leipzig’s major nightlife strips – is expected to “shake” all day long this time. From 10 a.m. until late this Saturday, April 18, local spots will open up their doors, locals will bring out their wares, and live music will blast across our beloved Straße packed with bars, pubs, restaurants, döner shops, little arts and crafts markets, and bio and fair trade joints.

Referring to the festival, Karli Beben (“Karli Quake”), and to another diverse-music-and-bar-hopping event coming up in May, LVZ-online says: “Von Bar zu Bar tingeln und sich von handgemachter Musik, Unterhaltungen und Getränken berauschen lassen – für Freunde dieser Freizeitgestaltung wird es in den kommenden Wochen wieder aufregend.” This roughly translates into: “From bar to bar, one can be intoxicated with hand-crafted music, entertainment and drinks – for friends of this leisure time, it will be exciting again in the coming weeks.”
