There is a new podcast in Spanish for the growing Spanish-speaking community in Leipzig: ¡Al Chile! 🌶️ Tu vida en Leipzig, which means Let’s get to the point! Your life in Leipzig. The podcast deals with aspects of integration and culture. It also scopes out and recommends events such as exhibitions, performances and bilingual or multicultural get-togethers in the Leipzig area.
German freelance journalist Carolin Wilms, who speaks Spanish, and the Mexican Thelma Torres, who lives with her family in Leipzig, kicked off ¡Al Chile! earlier this year.
Now in their third episode, they interview the singer Jeany Martin from Panama, who performs in the Latin band Vientos Del Caribe in Leipzig. She explains her path when she arrived in Leipzig for love, learned German, started a family, and even turned to making incredible cakes.
In an earlier episode of the podcast, Thelma and Carolin proved that Mexico could be seen in Leipzig, as they reviewed the outstanding photography exhibition of Evelyn Richter and friends. This recent exhibit at the Museum der bildenden Künste included pictures former Academy of Fine Arts student Eva Wagner-Zimmermann took in Mexico in the 1950s, among other highlights of her work.
