CoraSon Latino, Leipzig’s comunidad

/

Tonight’s Noche Latina – organized by CoraSon Latino at Beyerhaus – is dedicated to all the victims of the terrible earthquake in Ecuador. A charity tombola with great prizes from Ecuador will be held, and any donations are more than welcome. All money collected during the night will go to the Red Cross in Ecuador in support of the many aid workers doing their best to rescue victims, provide basic humanitarian aid and help rebuilding homes.

Ecuador is going through hard times. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has hit the Pacific coast of Ecuador and shattered the lives of many. Over 570 people were killed and at least 4,000 injured in this worst disaster the country is facing in decades. As with most natural disasters, it is always the poorest that suffer the most. Those who had little before are left with nothing now. Their houses (or rather shacks) have been destroyed and their belongings gone. Many are still searching for their lost family members under the debris. There is no water, no electricity and not enough medical care available, even though volunteers are working around the clock to help those in need.

Leipzig based CoraSon Latino want to help. The organization unites the Latino and Spanish community, true to their motto “We come from different places but we are all united by ONE CoraSon Latino”, from Hispanohablantes to Hispanohablante. They want to spread joy with everyone who enjoys the culture, language and music from Latin America and Spain. It is their goal to strengthen the unity between Latinos and Spaniards, and promote a lively exchange between the Latino and Spanish community and all those who want to experience the culture first hand.

Every Thursday at Noches Latinas in Beyerhaus, you can practice your Spanish or Portuguese or communicate in German or English with others from the CoraSon Latino community. The event kicks off at 8 pm, and you can indulge in Latin dance moves from 9pm to 1am. Bachata, Salsa, Reggaeton, Cumbia, Merengue and Latino-Pop – Bailamos! There are also monthly music events called “La Serenata” with Latino concerts, jam sessions and of course the sizzling Fiesta Latina. Meet new friends from all over the world, and get in touch with the Latin and Spanish culture.

“So come around and let’s dance for Ecuador, a country so full of life, hope, music and joy. Let’s stand together in solidarity with our hermanos y hermanas in Ecuador, let’s dance to Ecuadorian music and collect as much financial aid as possible. Every help counts!”

A cosmopolitan butterfly that feels at home where people are friendly and coffee is strong. As a person with a wide range of interests and a low attention span, he succumbs to the charm of novelty all too readily. Literature, film, photography and politics on Mondays, playing dead and g(r)ooming dogs on Tuesdays. Hand him a beer and he’ll talk about football, tell him a lie and he’ll tell you two.
