Leipzig Events: Special movies in globalization-criticizing festival – free entry

//
Our regular MoviesAndTV columnist for The Leipzig Glocal, a Leipzig lover, today shares with us what he has discovered over the years about what has historically and culturally made our city a sort of
Leipzig through the eyes of artist and Leipzig Glocal contributor Maeshelle West-Davies (part of series of photos). Image provided by artist.

These are special features hosted by the organization GlobaLE. They deal with social and political issues, as part of a months-long festival criticizing globalization. They’ve been playing movies at least since last week. This week on August 12th, they played an Egyptian movie called “The Square;” on the 13th, an American movie called “Beyond Right and Wrong.” And they’ll continue playing more, as you can see from the list below for the coming days. In fact, their festival runs until October.

All movies on the following list will be shown at Richard-Wagner-Hain‘s Elsterflutbecken, starting at 8 p.m. (with free entry):

– 14.08: “Natur – Spekulationsobjekt mit Zukunft” (France 2014 / 88 min / Sandrine Feydel, Denis Delestrac). More on event page.

– 17.08: “Letztes Jahr Titanic” (BRD 1991 / DEFA / 97 min / Andreas Voigt). More on event page.

– 18.08: “Unsere bösen Kinder” (BRD 1992 / DEFA / 85 min / Karl Heinz Lotz). More on event page.

– 19.08: “Glaube, Liebe, Hoffnung” (BRD 1993 / DEFA / 88 min / Andreas Voigt). More on event page.

If you get a chance to watch them, please don’t hesitate to leave comments here with your impressions.
